Exploring Management, 3rd Edition, John R. Schermerhorn Jr.

The primary goal of this edition of Exploring Managementis to help build core management competencies for today's global and more complex workplace, including issues related to planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (POLC) - with more hands-on type materials such as cases, exercises, and application. Schermerhorn uses a conversational and interactive writing style to master concepts in a bite-size and fundamental approach.

This text presents managerial concepts and theory in a straight-forward, interesting style with a strong emphasis on application. The discussion of theory is framed in a unique, engaging, and concise way. The goal is to promote critical thinking and ability to make sound business decisions using managerial theory. Concepts are explored and reinforced by most hands-on applications, exercises, cases, and the integration of technology. The text also focuses on the most important aspects of the POLC model, emphasizing skill-building.

I got book for my beginning business class and was not impressed by the style of the book's writing. This book frequently refers to itself and its purpose, and refers to the student/reader in strange ways that do not follow the standard textbook writing style. The chapters are also broken up very strangely and the indices in the back do not follow the typical textbook setup, which can be frustrating when you want to find a topic quickly. The WileyPlus online content that you pay for with this textbook also has quirks (like kicking you off the site quite frequently), but some features can be helpful to study for tests on the material. If you prefer online textbooks, I would suggest only buying the stand-alone for your business course and skip the book as the online access code gives you the full textbook online in a slightly different format.

It deffinetly overcome my expectations...love tge simplicity of its contents...especially how they connect things and real stories with every business and management term including social terms.

I am only one chapter into the book at this point, but I truly enjoy this book. It has interesting cases and helpful review sections. A couple days after finishing the chapter, I took the end of chapter review test, and found it to be fairly easy due to the review sections and how it is laid out. At the beginning of each "Take away" it asks a question, then shows in a simple sentence what the answers are. So

This book was required text for my class. The book has many side notes and examples, which clearly define the subjuct. Some of the authors views on ethics seem somewhat political/personal in nature, which were somewhat of a turn-off. With that said, I still give it five stars.

Compared to the other books I purchased, this one was in the best shape! No problems or really any signs of wear. No inside markings either! Thanks!
