Operations Management, 10th Edition, Jay Heizer

Operations Management presents a broad introduction to the field of operations in a realistic and practical manner, while offering the largest and most diverse collection of problems on the market.

I needed it for two classes and I wish I would of gotten it earier. It helps me so much, I like to read from paper not the computer. I like the infromation and helpful steps. It may be a little price but worth investing the money.

amazon did a great job in bring the book and it was not in acceptable conditions it was in awesome conditions. For the price is amazing. It is like new.

I like it because it is very easy to understand. It provides plenty examples to illustrate the points and concepts.

I ordered a book in good condition and that is what I got. I bought it to supplement the online text that was provided by my school.

I got this book and it was the International edition. I was concerned as to whether it would work out but I was relieved to learn than it was almost the same book. The cover is different and the case studies are too but I was fine. We didn't even go into case studies! Great savings!

Organizational Behavior, 6th Edition, Mary Von Glinow

Delivering what we’ve come to expect from this author team, McShane/Von Glinow 6e helps everyone make sense of OB, and provides the conceptual tools to work more effectively in the workplace.

In their new Sixth Edition, McShane and Von Glinow continue the trailblazing innovations that made previous editions of Organizational Behavior recognized and adopted by the new generation of organizational behavior (OB) instructors. The McShane and Von Glinow text is acclaimed for: • Readability, presentation of current knowledge • Linking OB concepts and theories with reality • Strong International/Global orientation • Contemporary Theory Foundation (without the jargon) • Active Learning and Critical Thinking Support • Textbook’s philosophy-OB knowledge is for everyone, not just traditional managers.

Organizational Behavior, Sixth Edition is written in the context of these emerging workplace realities. This edition explains how emotions are the foundation of employee motivation, attitudes, and decisions; how social networks generate power and shape communication patterns; how self-concept influences individual behavior, team cohesion, and leadership; and how adopting a global mindset has become an important employee characteristic in this increasingly interconnected world.

This book also presents the reality that organizational behavior is not just for managers; it is relevant and valuable to anyone who works in and around organizations.

About the Author Steven L. McShane is Winthrop Professor of Management at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Business School, where he receives high teaching ratings from students in Perth, Singapore, Manila, and other cities where UWA offers its programs. He previously taught in the business faculties at Simon Fraser University and Queen’s University in Canada. Steve is also coauthor of editions or translations of his organizational behavior book in China, India, Quebec, Taiwan, and Brazil. Steve enjoys spending his leisure time swimming, body board surfing, canoeing, skiing, and traveling with his wife and two daughters.

I bought this for a basic org behavior class that I had last year. The class wasn't that great, but the book is really well written. It's extremely thorough despite the wide range of information that it covers. I just took a basic HR class and when studying for the exams, I actually pulled this one out and looked up concepts that the HR book just glazed over. This was one of the most expensive books I've ever purchased (back then it was $170), but it's also the only one I have consistently used once the class was over. Definitely a keeper.

Well organized and up to date information. Uses current companies to demonstrate or comment on principles presented in the text; and that helps understand application of the ideas.

Great book on organizational behavior. easy to read. Case studies at the end of each chapter provide practical application and discussion.

Got the book quickly. No complaints and the book was in great shape. Easy retrun process. Thanks for that. Book was taken care of .

Organization Theory and Design, 11th Edition, Richard L. Daft

Discover some of the most progressive thinking about organizations today as acclaimed business author Richard Daft blends contemporary, innovative organizational ideas with proven classic theories and effective business practices. The result is a best-selling book--ORGANIZATION THEORY AND DESIGN--that's as enjoyable and engaging as it is useful and informative.

You'll see, firsthand, how well-known organizations cope and even thrive within today's rapidly changing, highly competitive, international environment. Featured organizations include BP, Disney/Pixar, Volvo, Barnes & Noble, and Cisco Systems. Fascinating detailed examples, contemporary case studies and proven learning features bring organization concepts to life while helping you develop the skills and insights that will leave you well equipped to meet the challenges of today's business world.

Review "I have used this book since it was first published, with both undergrads & MBAs. It seems to be written at a level that is effective for both groups. I chose it because I know Dick and respect his research. I have kept using it because it is not too low level (as many texts are) and it also reflects accurately what is known in this field based on research, rather than what practitioners 'think' is good practice. Of necessity he summarizes some of the research findings rather briefly but usually the models and recommendations are based on empirical findings. I like that Daft also takes an applied focus and provides many examples."

"I very much like the explicit presentation of [the Managing by Design] questions as a launching point to in-class discussion. It would give the students something concrete to start with in terms of preparing for the session's discussion."

I purchased this book for a class I am taking. The book asks thought provoking questions at the beginning of each chapter to pull you in a the reader and get you involved. It also has a rating section in each chapter titled, "How do you fit?" to help you see what type of manager you would be in an organization. Sort of like a self-analysis questionnaire. And references to companies that are familiar and local.

The Organization Theory and Design book is like new and arrived on time. I would recommend this anyone. Very interesting information.

Retailing Management, 8th Edition, Michael Levy

Retailing is a high-tech, global, growth industry that plays a vital economic role in society. The authors’ objective in preparing the eighth edition is to stimulate student interest in retailing courses and careers by capturing the exciting, challenging, and rewarding opportunities facing both retailers and firms that sell their products and services to retailers, such as IBM and Proctor & Gamble. The textbook focuses on the strategic issues facing the retail industry and provides a current, informative, “good read” for students.

The Eighth Edition maintains the basic philosophy of previous editions while focusing on key strategic issues with an emphasis on financial considerations and implementation through merchandise and store management. These strategic and tactical issues are examined for a broad spectrum of retailers, both large and small, domestic and international, selling merchandise and services.

The actual text is okay, seems remedial but useful if you are new to this industry. Overall it did the trick.

It was here the first day of the time frame and is in great condition. everything went smoothly and it was what it said it was.

I loved having this textbook as an e-book. Searching for topics is quick and easy, especially for a college student doing homework!

The book was is the exact condition that was stated, by the buyer. I am very pleased with the book and with how quickly I received it.

If you're going to be working in retail for a while after done with school, this book is going to be a good source for you to refer to. It's simple and easy to understand, yet covered every aspect of retail.

Data Analysis and Decision Making, 4th Edition, S. Christian Albright

DATA ANALYSIS AND DECISION MAKING is a teach-by-example approach, learner-friendly writing style, and complete Excel integration focusing on data analysis, modeling, and spreadsheet use in statistics and management science. The Premium Online Content Website (accessed by a unique code with every new book) includes links to the following add-ins: the Palisade Decision Tools Suite (@RISK, StatTools, PrecisionTree, TopRank, RISKOptimizer, NeuralTools, and Evolver); and SolverTable, allowing users to do sensitivity analysis.

All of the add-ins is revised for Excel 2007 and notes about Excel 2010 are added where applicable.

I thought I was saving money with the Kindle version of this book, but unfortunately found out that I have to purchase the CD-ROM access code separately. I wish Amazon made this more blatantly clear to me.

The book itself, however, is quite good.

I really liked this book! Mainly because when you compare it to other stats books this breaks everything down to a very elementary level but in a way that you can catch on but won't take too long getting the point. With that being said there were a few things I didn't like (why I didn't give it five stars).
1. The books references too much of the Palisades software. I know it's great software but there is no reason to keep expressing that.
2. The authors often say later in the chapter, later in the book, in a later section, we won't get to it in this book, etc.

I get the point but it's not necessary to tell me what I will not be reading in a particular section, just stick to the text no need for a heads up. Other than that the book is five stars in my eyes -so let's give them four.

This textbook is pretty good. It is laid out in a manor that is fairly easy to follow and one can read the chapters and try the exercises in Excel as they go and learn pretty well on their own. This book is a good companion to the course and unlike a lot of textbooks I'm actually using this one in my studies.

Introductory Chemistry Essentials, 4th Edition, Nivaldo J. Tro

To succeed in introductory chemistry, you need to develop your problem-solving skills—but you’ll also need to understand why these skills are important. Introductory Chemistry Essentials, Fourth Edition extends chemistry from the laboratory to your world, helping you learn chemistry by demonstrating how it is manifested in your daily life.

Throughout, the Fourth Edition presents a new student-friendly, step-by-step problem-solving approach that adds four steps to worked examples (Sort, Strategize, Solve, and Check). This proven text continues to foster student success beyond the classroom with MasteringChemistry®, the most advanced online tutorial and assessment program available.

Nivaldo Tro is currently chair of the department of chemistry at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, where he has been a faculty member since 1990. He received his B.A degree in chemistry from Westmont College and earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University, for work on developing and using optical techniques to study the adsorption and desorption of molecules to and from surfaces in ultrahigh vacuum.

He then went on to the University of California at Berkeley, where he did post-doctoral research on ultra-fast reaction dynamics in solution. Since coming to Westmont, Professor Tro has been awarded grants from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund, from Research Corporation, and from the National Science Foundation to study the dynamics of various processes occurring in thin adlayer films adsorbed on dielectric surfaces.

Honored as Westmont’s outstanding teacher of the year in 1994, 2001, and 2008, he was also named the college’s outstanding researcher of the year in 1996. Professor Tro lives in Santa Barbara with his wife, Ann, and their four children, Michael, Alicia, Kyle, and Kaden. For leisure, he enjoys reading, writing, snowboarding, biking, and other outdoor activities with his family.

This book is extremely well written and easy for students to read and understand. The illustrations are also excellent and help students link the microscopic to the macroscopic. The book also very clearly lays out methods for quantitative problem solving.

Many well written sections and problems are related to real world applications (deep sea diving, airplane cabin pressurization, rust, soap micelles, skin cancer from sunlight calculations, cancer treatments.) If you are looking for a complicated, indecipherable, dry but comprehensive tome, then this is not the book for you.

If you are interested in getting started in your study of chemistry with a book that is actually relevant and readable, then this is a great book! My students consistently give it rave reviews as well. I haven't met Prof. Tro, but if I ever do, then I will thank him for writing this book.

I really enjoyed this book and my Leadership class! Most of it was a review, but it brought up some interesting points of leadership. I would recommend to anyone, especially in a management position!

I loved the quality of this book. There were some tears or rips. The book was in some what good condition and quality. The pages were ripping away from the binder part but other than that it was okay.

Management : Leading & Collaborating in the Competitive World, 10th Edition, Thomas Bateman

Bateman and Snell’s Management: Leading & Collaborating in a Competitive World is a text with a fully modernized functional approach. This text is maintaining the four traditional functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, while modernizing and re-visioning the concepts as delivering strategic value, building a dynamic organization, mobilizing people, and learning and changing.

Bateman/Snell’ results-oriented approach is a unique hallmark of this textbook. In this ever more competitive environment there are five essential types of performance, on which the organization beats, equals, or loses to the competition which are cost, quality, speed, innovation, service and sustainability.

These six performance dimensions, when done well, deliver value to the customer and competitive advantage to you and your organization.

Throughout the text Bateman & Snell remind students of these five dimensions and their impact on the “bottom line” with marginal icons contributing to the leadership and collaboration theme, which is the key to successful management. People working with one another, rather than against, is essential to competitive advantage.

Perfect for learning the basics of manEasy to read and has a great selection of activities, would be a great book for anyone.
