Police Management Examinations: Preparation Guide, 1st Edition, Larry F. Jetmore

Loaded with the priceless insider tips and expert guidance you need to excel on management exams. Dr. Larry Jetmore, one of the nation's leading promotional exam experts, teaches you key management concepts, theories & styles you must know: *specific test prep steps that dramatically increase scores *how to nail the orals while making impressions that prove you're managment material *study strategies for guaranteed retention *plus insight into the challenging Assessment Center segments. Include sample questions, real-world examples and golden advice for avoiding common, devastating mistakes.

The first thing that struck me about this book is the how close the testing process covered resembles my department's testing process.

If you are unfamiliar with the assessment center process and test taking in general, this book would be a real help. The book for Lieutenants, Captains, and Asst. Chiefs would be helpful for someone testing for Sergeant or Corporal as well. It isn't as in depth as some books but it covers the basics extremely well and gives tips that even veterans of the testing process can use.

The book begins with a section on general testing information. The next section covers some basic managment theories. Since these always seem to be on the test, it never hurts to review them. It then goes in depth on written test and oral examniation preparation, and then the assessment center itself. The final parts have a written and oral tests to try at home.

The book is written in a clear and concise manner and can be read in a fairly short amount of time.

For the price I would say that this book is a good value and worth reading.

By far the best study guide I've ever seen. This guide allows the Candidate to apply Policies and procedures specific to his/her own department into the practice exams and questions. I also recommend this for recently promoted Command staff, and patrol officers who are considering testing for promotion. It really helps you see the "Big Picture" within your own Department, and sharpens your thinking. I guarantee you'll get your Money's worth and so much more!

This is a great guide for the police management promotional process. It is very thorough and loaded with great infornation. A word of advice for anyone close to a promotional process for a police management position; Buy this book an buy it early. If you follow the recommendations in the book you will need at least 1 to 2 months to dedicate several hours a day to studying and reading. I, unfortunately, only had a month, but this guide was a great tool and I would highly recommend it.

This book helped me over the years in getting promoted. I recently purchased 2 copies for my Sergeants who were studying for a Lieutenants promotion. They both stated it helped them and one got promoted!
